WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PHP AND IOP SERVICES?
- PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program): The PHP program will be offered Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Children attend 5 days per week.
- Each child’s treatment will include: psychiatric and medical evaluations, comprehensive assessment and treatment planning, individual/family/group psychotherapy, and medication management if needed.
- IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program): The IOP program will be offered Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The number of days required per individual is based on medical necessity and is dependent upon the clinical needs and capacities of the individual.
- Each child’s treatment will include: comprehensive assessment and treatment planning, individual/family/group psychotherapy.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WITH TELEHEALTH OUTPATIENT SERVICES?
- At admission, you will be provided with a Zoom link that your child will use daily to log onto treatment. A treatment team member will also be in a private room at their location logged into Zoom.
- When the session is ready to begin, you will start the computer/phone and camera so that your child can participate in treatment. When your child joins the Zoom room, the staff will complete an individual check-in that will be completed.
- Every morning the caregiver will receive an email to submit an electronic report to give the treatment team an evening update on behaviors, medications, treatment goals, and any additional feedback.
- Break out rooms are used in Zoom to allow your child to complete individual sessions, family sessions, and meet with their psychiatrist (if in the PHP program).
- The programs consist of classroom scholastic time, supportive group therapy, recreation therapy, process groups, and psycho-education.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF VIRTUAL PHP AND IOP SERVICES?
Virtual outpatient programming is beneficial to children who are in need of more intensive outpatient programming that is not available in their community. PHP and IOP services are beneficial for a child that is discharging from a higher level of care or has not been responding to traditional psychotherapy or outpatient services.
MY CHILD DID NOT DO WELL IN VIRTUAL SCHOOL. CAN I EXPECT THEM TO DO WELL IN VIRTUAL OUTPATIENT SERVICES?
While the outpatient program is a virtual setting, it is a more structured setting than a virtual classroom. With 12 or less children, the program offers a smaller platform with supports provided by the therapist, nursing, care coordinators, teacher, Program Director, and physician on a daily basis. Behavioral supports and interventions are in place to assist with engaging and maintaining the child into programming so they can benefit from treatment as if the child was in an onsite program.
HOW IS MY CHILD’S SUPERVISION AND SAFETY MANAGED IN TELEHEALTH OUTPATIENT SERVICES?
The goal of the each program are to enhance child’s coping abilities and to understand their clinical and therapeutic needs and how to address these needs in a positive manner. The program provides direct supervision by the treatment team throughout the course of the day. Any changes in the child’s participation/engagement or surfing off of the Zoom platform are communicated to the family by the therapist and Program Director immediately. Behavioral concerns are addressed through supports and interventions, and breakout rooms are used as needed to provide one on one therapeutic support to assist with de-escalation and use of coping skills. There is a 24 hour crisis line available to assist with reinforcement and supports with safety and behaviors in the home.
